Canadian soprano Jacinthe Thibault made her professional operatic debut with Chants libres in 2007, for the premiere performance of Alternate Visions by composer John Oliver. With the Opéra Bouffe du Québec, she has starred in Lehar’s La Veuve joyeuse (2009) and Chabrier’s L’Étoile (2013). An avid performer of contemporary music, she has been part of many premieres including the first North American performance of Vier Lieder by Swiss composer Christophe Neidhöfer in 2007 as well as Alain Féron’s Méditation sur le Magnificat during the festival Les Couleurs de l’Orgue français. Jacinthe was nominated at the Prix Opus 2014, in the category Création contemporaine de l’année for the lyric monodrama l’Océantume, confirming further her expertise, advocacy, and passion, as a new music performer.
Jacinthe benefitted from many prizes and awards from both the Canadian Arts Council and the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, allowing her to refine her training in France with mentors Françoise Pollet and Dalton Baldwin. She holds a Master’s Degree in music performance from McGill University where she distinguished herself in many lead roles with the McGill Opera Ensemble.
A well-known pedagogue, Jacinthe was a guest teaching artist at the McGill Conservatory of music in 2013. She has been teaching from her private studio for over a decade.
Her classical-cabaret D’Ombre et de lumière, Musique de Kurt Weill has been presented for a showcase for the Grand Rendez-vous in 2016 as well as at CINARS and as been touring since October 2016.
